Sustainability training

Sustainability is not an individual private matter, it concerns everyone. Every contribution makes a difference and has an impact. For you, for the bank, for our customers and, of course, for climate protection as a whole - and thus for the ecological footprint of us all. The success of our business activities is also positively influenced by our sustainable actions.

Sustainability has been an integral part of our corporate strategy since 2020. Our current strategy "Moving Forward" is based on three pillars: growth, excellence, and responsibility. Responsibility represents the entire sustainability spectrum of "Environment, Social and Governance (ESG)". Commerzbank is one of the first signatories to the "Net-Zero Banking Alliance" and has set itself the goal, among other things, of reducing its net CO2 emissions to zero by 2050. To achieve these ambitious goals, we need well-trained employees in particular.

Basic qualification

In order to provide all employees with an even more comprehensive understanding of the topic of sustainability, Commerzbank offers a Bank-wide Qualification named „Sustainability Basics“. The innovative and interactive e-learning explains and illustrates the individual ESG dimensions in various learning units. It illustrates how important sustainability is from all angles and sharpens the view on the significance of the topics.

"Sustainability Basics" provides all employees in Germany and abroad with a comprehensive range of qualifications.

Advanced qualification

„Sustainability Basics“ is the first learning level on the topic of sustainability. But the topic has an even deeper dimension: In day-to-day customer consulting, depth of knowledge and confidence in acting on the topic of sustainability are an absolute prerequisite for speaking with customers at eye level. Only in this way can we accompany our customers through their transformation process with financing and investment products that take into account risk requirements and regulatory guard rails.

Commerzbank provides a detailed advanced qualification to ensure that this important topic is covered in greater depth for sales and sales-related functions. Nevertheless, this qualification is also open to all employees. Because of country-specific topics, it is only available in German.
